OMG OMG OMG. Okay. First of all, thank you SO MUCH for giving me all of your fabulous feedback on my book cover options a few weeks ago. I was completely overwhelmed and grateful for all of your comments and excitement. I took everything into thoughtful consideration, then chatted with my closest peeps, as well as consulted with Chloe and we decided on the following cover (and I will tell you why in a second)…
I’ll start by saying, this was my first choice. When I saw this cover, there was an immediate, resounding YES that reverberated throughout my entire body. I actually had the idea of crossing out the letters on the word “Wouldn’t” and then my cover designer, Zoe Norvell, brought the idea to life in a way that I am absolutely obsessed with.
I also really loved the covers with the images but there are a few reasons we didn’t go with those (not right now — at least). Although my brand is called The Champagne Diet, and I indulge in plenty of champagne, I did not want the cover to have alcohol on it. Firstly, because I didn’t want the cover to give off the impression that all of these stories involve drinking and partying and making bad choices. The bad choices were made for much deeper reasons than that (lol). But I want this book to be taken seriously, even if many of the stories are funny.
Secondly, I did not want to turn off people who don’t drink. I realize that alcohol can be polarizing, and even though so many women who read my books and love The Champagne Diet are actually sober, it’s because they have taken the time to get to know me and understand that my brand is not actually about drinking — there is much more to it. However, you get one shot (cue Eminem) when people see your book cover. Your book is being judged by it’s cover within seconds, and I did not want to alienate a potential audience by misrepresenting my content.
With all that said, we came up with a really fun idea. Release this cover first in early 2024, and then release an alternative cover with one of the fun images for summer. This way we get to see the book in both variations. I love when musical artists do this with album covers, so why not do it with my book? :)
I hope you love this cover as much as I do. And I seriously cannot wait to get this book in your hands. I’m knee-deep in writing and editing and my goal is to have it out by January or February at the latest.
Thank you again for all of your love, support, and excitement. I feel it every day and it pushes me to keep going!
More soon <3
& just like that I guess I’ll have to get the OG and the summer cover singed by the queen herself🥹😅💖💖💖
Well, I love the idea of two covers. And it of course means I’ll have to buy it twice (something of a book nerd, haha!) 🙌🏻💯♥️
