My new nonfiction reading series is here!
Hello kittens! I’m reporting LIVE this morning from my candy pink living room with a mild hangover to share some big news with you. I created my own nonfiction reading series!
Introducing: The Tortured Bloggers Department. The name is a nod to our queen Tay and all the women (like me) who will never get over a single thing that’s ever happened to them <3
Here’s how it started: Last year, I began working with my writing coach, Chloe Caldwell (author of the bestselling book Women and overall badass bitch). Chloe has been helping me work on my forthcoming (god that word is so ridiculous isn’t it!?) book Don’t Do Anything I Would Do. She was like “Girl you are hilarious you should read at Generation Women!” and I was like “OMG my cousin just went to it last week and loved it.” Then ChloMoney made an email introduction to the producer and I submitted an application and a few weeks later I was on a stage in front of a lot of people reading a heartwarming and chaotic essay about how I got into light witchcraft ~*white magic*~ if you will to lure a man into falling in love with me.
There is nothing — and I mean nothing — like reading your words in front of a live audience. Seeing the emotion on their faces, hearing them erupt into laughter. Holy shit! I fully understand actors and comedians now. Like fully. After that night there was nothing else I wanted to do.
I started doing more readings. I read at Miss Manhattan. Then Wine and Pine. Then Love Notes. Then I was like okay grrrrl it’s time to stop waiting for someone else to throw one of these parties and just throw your own! And here we are.
The Tortured Bloggers Department is a nonfiction reading series featuring real, raw, and hilariously unhinged tales of dating, sex, love, heartbreak, and everything in between. Expect to hear all the chaotic love stories! Let’s be insane together!
Our unofficial kickoff is happening next Thursday June 27th at The Gatehouses in Brooklyn. Cum and join us! We’ll be featuring the fabulous:
