I LOVE Carrie. But ya know, the idiots who are too literal to understand art or comedy always conflate vulnerability, humor, and quirk with mental illness or deem it "problematic." I personally think what's mentally ill AND problematic are people who bully in adulthood and can't sniff out satire when it's right in front of them. I don't like them, they don't like me, all good. LOVE this piece.
Love this. I have rewatched every season countless times and without fail each time I learn and/or heal something new about myself. Last year I went through the ugh what were you thinking Carrie phase, but in reality it was because ugh what had I been thinking. In that period she reminded me that I was a hopeless mess at times too looking to be saved and rescued. But instead of hating that about that time in my life I gave her some love. Sure Carrie had some not so great moments, but haven’t we all?! Carrie helped me have more peace in telling my story and writing my book.
I think this piece just came up for me because I just wrote about Carrie too. You articulated so well why we love her. She’s not perfect but she’s our girl… 🤍
Oh the truth of this read. I loved her character and the drama of the show in NY! I see her in the same light living life, not sitring around waiting for things to happen but making those choices and mistkaes like we all do. Shit happens, we live, experience and feel. I dont know how you would see it any other way. Ohh new book I'm on it!! 🔥
Personally, I can’t hate her because to hate her will be hating a past version of myself. Those past versions of ourselves is what makes us who we are today and give us the inspiration to see we have grown up from then. Love this take and especially the mirror part honey.
I really love this Cara. I really agree with you on the mirror aspect, I’m self reflective and sure as hell find it tricky being handed a mirror but accept it willingly because it helps me to grow and evolve. For many, though, it’s probably a case of not wanting to see it. I can’t think of many people who haven’t had the messy moments.
I did a rewatch of the entire series, both films, and both seasons of “And Just Like That…” not too long ago. Sure, there is some cringy content (um…what show that was made over 20 years ago doesn’t have that?), but I think there’s still so much more to enjoy about Sex and the City than to criticize even with all of its flaws.
The taxi cab light theory; “he’s just not that into you;” it just has so many interesting and hilarious takes on dating and relationships…it’s iconic.
Right on, Cara! So profound and on point--as usual! You have such a wonderful and unique way of getting to the heart of the matter. Bravo! I am a fan of SJP's character. It was superbly portrayed and it STILL holds up, even today. YOU are a voice that says it like it is and you wear your "life lessons" proudly. A girl can learn a thing or two (always) from you! LOVE!

Carrie walked so we could run lol
For real lol
Thank you. Love Carrie, always will. She’s flawed, real, introspective, and easy on the fashion-balls. Thanks for the fun piece of writing.
Thanks for reading!
This gave me chills. So real and so beautifully written. Completely agree!!!!
Thanks Sarah! I'm so happy you enjoyed it <3

thank you for reading!
If loving Carrie Bradshaw is wrong, then I don't want to be right. I admire her big and open heart. She's far braver than I am. Fabulous post. Xx
Thank you Jen! <3

At least when she messes up she has material to write about! I love Carrie! Have you been listening to the podcast “Are you a Charlotte?” SO good
